PHOSPHORUS SALTS injections are used to increase the amount of phosphorus in the body. Phosphorus is needed by the body to maintain normal function. Phosphorus supplements treat or prevent low phosphate levels in patients who are not receiving enough from their diet or who need increased amounts. Generic phosphorus salts injection is available.

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

How should I use this medicine?
Phosphorus salts injection is for slow infusion into a vein. It is given by a health-care professional in a hospital or clinic setting.

What should I watch for while taking phosphorus salts?
Your condition will be closely monitored while you receive injections of phosphorus salts.
Phosphorus salts injections contains large amounts of sodium or potassium. Phosphorus salts should be used with caution in patients on sodium-restricted diets. Some salt-substitutes contain potassium.
What side effects may I notice from receiving phosphorus salts?
Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:

Where can I keep my medicine?
Keep out of the reach of children.
Store in a well closed container at room temperature below 40 degrees C (104 degrees F). Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.

What is phosphorus salts tablets or powder for oral solution?
PHOSPHORUS SALTS (K-Phos® M.F., K-Phos® No.2, K-Phos® Neutral, Neutra-Phos®) are used to acidify the urine in order to keep kidney stones from developing or to reduce the odor and rash caused by ammonia in the urine. Generic phosphorus salts tablets or powder are not yet available.

How should I take this medicine?
Follow the directions on the prescription label. Dissolve tablet(s), or the contents of one packet of powder, in a full glass ( 6 to 8 fl. oz.) of water. Allow tablets to soak in water for 2 to 5 minutes and then stir. If part of the tablet does not dissolve, it may be crushed and then the solution stirred vigorously. Take phosphorus salts solution by mouth. Do not take more medicine than directed.
Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
