Alcohol and Youth
Alcohol is still the number one drug of choice among teens, according to the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). Abusing alcohol is a factor in risky sexual behavior and motor vehicle crashes, the agency says. A NIAAA survey in 2004 found that about 20 percent of eighth graders and about half of high school seniors reported drinking alcohol in the month before the survey.
