Medications Reduce ER Visits

Children who take one or more asthma medications have fewer visits to the emergency room for asthma than those who don't take such medications, say researchers with the University of Michigan Health System. The researchers studied 19,000 children with asthma, noting the frequency of asthma-related ER visits, and how rates of ER visits varied by age, gender, race and prescriptions for fast-acting "rescue" medications, as well as long-term preventive asthma drugs.
